Junior Geophysicist
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in Geology, Geophysics or closely related technical field of study is preferred.
• 1 to 3 years of directly related experience conducting geophysical operations at military munitions response project sites.
• Experience operating standard geophysical sensors (e.g., EM61-MK2) and AGC sensors (e.g., MetalMapper2x2).
• Experience with RTK GPS, RTS, line and fiducial positioning systems and methods.
• Knowledge of instrument-specific software for data collection and download.
• Experience conducting field operations under a DAGCAP-accredited quality system.
• Ability and willingness to learn new instruments, equipment, software, etc. in a field or virtual training setting.
• Current 40-hr HAZWOPER training with 8-hr annual refresher.
• Ability to work outdoors in various challenging field conditions (heat, cold, humidity, high altitude).
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time, while carrying or otherwise operating geophysical equipment.
• Ability to operate effectively with minimal direct supervision.
• Ability to work as part of a large, diverse team of professionals.
• Attention to detail in completing daily field notes, production logs and so forth using digital platforms.
• Willingness to support other Tetra Tech operations not related to munitions response (both geophysical and non-geophysical) as needed.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe record.
Desired Additional Experience and Qualifications:
• Experience using geophysical sensors other than those listed above (greater preference given to candidates with experience using multiple sensor types).
• Experience collecting EM61-MK2 data using multi-coil towed arrays.
• Experience using positioning systems/methods other than those listed above.
• Experience compiling and maintaining Access databases.
• Experience processing QC tests and/or production geophysical data.
• Willingness to take on additional responsibilities commensurate with experience, with eventual goal of fulfilling Project or QC Geophysicist project role.
• Desire to eventually pursue professional geologist, engineer or geophysicist registration.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience.
Salary Range: $55k - $75k
