Intermediate Airport Engineer

The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $135,000 per year. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
Your Role:
- Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinator between clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
- Develop practical, code compliant technical solutions for airport airfield infrastructure, including assessment, design, evaluation, and construction strategy.
- Produce and review project deliverables: drawings, specifications, cost estimates, operational plans, schedules, and tender documents.
- Perform quality control on designs, drawings, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and other technical outputs.
- Draft technical correspondence, review letters, reports, memos, and quality assurance documentation.
- Identify, escalate, and resolve technical, operational, and construction issues to keep projects on schedule and within scope.
- Execute project management duties: track progress against work plans and budgets, report to clients and internal stakeholders, and manage deliverables.
- Prepare accurate scopes of work, cost estimates, construction plans, schedules, and execution plans to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget.
- Contribute to RFP evaluations and proposal preparation as required.
- Carry out work in compliance with internal procedures, applicable legislation, and industry standards.
- Maintain and expand professional knowledge through continuous development.
- Work safely at all times and report any health and safety incidents or concerns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in civil engineering in Canada, with demonstrable involvement in airport design and/or airport project management.
- Working knowledge of Transport Canada, ICAO, and FAA standards and guidance.
- Proven experience across airport related project tasks, including geometric layout, pavement, and grading design.
- Strong competence with civil engineering fundamentals and established design standards.
- Proficiency or demonstrated experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is an asset. Familiarity with GIS and stormwater management is beneficial.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; experienced in preparing technical reports, memos, and client correspondence.
- Organized, able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and capable of delivering high quality work on time and within budget.
- Experience or aptitude for project planning, scheduling, and financial management.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams; demonstrated leadership for small teams or project workstreams.
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and willingness to travel frequently for site visits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent diploma with relevant experience).
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Canada is a must.
