We are currently seeking an experienced Health & Safety Director. While working to achieve project objectives, will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

  • Responsible for the implementation of the project safety program

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures
  • Performs site inspections to confirm compliance with the safety program

  • Supports employee training of the safety program
  • Broad applied knowledge of principles, concepts and techniques in the field of environmental health & safety

  • Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks independently with little instruction

  • Ability to work within established policies and procedures, using independent judgment and ingenuity

  • Analyze data and provide reports as needed
  • Provide corrective action recommendations to address risk, changing conditions and promote continuous improvement

  • Complies with all health & safety policies and practices

  • Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline
  • 15 plus years of experience in a government project workspace

  • Health and Safety Certifications preferred (such as CHP, CIH, HWMM)

  • The career level of the position will be determined by the years of relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Advanced knowledge and demonstrated application of EHS good practices

  • Demonstrated environmental training and/or field experience

  • Ability to develop, evaluate, and implement site specific EHS programs, training, policy and practices

  • Ability to communicate effectively at the highest levels

  • Ability to train and mentor more junior staff
  • Experienced and skill to conduct research, investigate alternative solutions and recommend needed change

  • Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment
