 Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. An ideal candidate would be familiar with the following.
•    Knowledge of federal environmental regulations relevant to hazardous and solid waste management.
•    Working knowledge of hazardous and solid waste management, and Occupations Safety Health Administration Hazard Communication Standard found in 29 CFR 1910.
•    Current 40-hr HAZWOPER (40 CFR 2626.17, 29 CFR 1910.120, 8 CCR Section 5192) certification is required.
•    Current RCRA (40 CFR 262.17, 22 CCR 66262.17) training is required.
•    Current DOT Training (49 CFR 172.704) is required.
•    Current forklift operator certification is required for this position.
•    Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive on client sites. 
•    Must be detail oriented to properly document field sampling activities, package samples for shipment, and complete chain of custody documents.

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

This position requires the successful candidate to obtain a NASA PIV.

Education & Experience:  
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science is required, with a minimum of four college-level courses in chemistry.
•    A minimum of eight years of direct experience is required.
•    Must be a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM); otherwise 10 years of direct experience is required.

The employee is frequently required to remain stationary, traverse and perform activities that could potentially require the following: performing strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and weather conditions; remaining stationary and traversing and moving about to support coordination of hazardous waste management tasks, lifting and/or moving items weighing greater than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Language & Communication Skills: 
•    Must be fluent in the English language, writing and speaking.  

Other Skills:  Employee must be fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and data management systems.
