The Opportunity:

Tech2 Solutions (T2S) is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team and will be providing program management and technical services in support of the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory. T2S is adding an experienced Groundwater Purge Water Management Specialist who will support the management of groundwater monitoring purge water including maintaining the purge water inventory, waste characterization, waste determination, characterization, and dispensation activities associated with the Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract (LLCC) at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration’s Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). This role will be part of the Tech2 Solutions (Tetra Tech-Sealaska Joint Venture) Project Team for the N3B Los Alamos LLCC team.

 

The Groundwater Purge Water Management person will update the purge water inventory on an ongoing basis, prepare inventory reports, make a preliminary waste determination for final disposition and prepare data packages for approval of the proposed disposition. The Groundwater Purge Water Management person will interface with internal project personnel to ensure waste characterization and disposition strategies are in place prior to waste generation. This position will manage equipment needed for purge water storage, including maintaining inventory of water storage containers and assisting with procurement and distribution of Baker tanks, poly tanks, drums, totes, etc.

 

The Groundwater Purge Water Management person will work directly with internal project personnel to review and characterize chemical hazards, as well as determine appropriate characterization and identification of waste streams. The client’s Environmental Information Management System (EIMS) will be utilized to maintain the inventory, and modules within EIMS will be utilized to generate land application packages and Waste Data Summary packages in support of off-site disposal. The Groundwater Purge Water Management person will be working with the client’s Waste Management team to provide the required information in a timely manner.

Your Role:

  • Update the EIMS waste inventory with purge water generated on a daily basis
  • Update the poly water storage tank inventory based on status and tank location moves on a daily basis
  • Perform waste site inspections/audits, assessments of operations and facilities associated with groundwater sampling, and recommend appropriate action to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Administer internal audits and support external regulatory audits
  • Plan and execute characterization sampling as needed
  • Provide the required information to be entered into Los Alamos National Laboratory’s Waste Compliance and Tracking System (WCATS), or equivalent
  • Interface, as necessary, with all levels of the client’s Waste Management Team
  • Maintain and update a groundwater sampling program waste inventory spreadsheet
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain discipline knowledge
  • Work safely at all times and report health and safety incidents or concerns
  • Perform additional duties as required

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills, including the ability to author and present technical documents, test plans, project documentation, and training to a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to communicate and interface successfully and professionally with personnel from various organizations
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software

 

Education and Experience:

  • BS in an engineering or environmental science field required
  • The selected candidate must be able to obtain a federal security clearance
  • Working knowledge of existing DOE waste management software such as WCATS or IWTS preferred
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to waste management, including RCRA, EPA, DOT, and DOE
  • Ability to understand and adhere to Los Alamos National Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance specific to the waste management of solid, liquid, hazardous, radioactive, and/or mixed wastes
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $75,000-$85,000 annually
