Position Summary:
The GIS/Data Visualization Specialist will support data management, analysis, and visualization activities across the Jordan MELA work order. This position will be responsible for transforming complex quantitative and qualitative information into clear, accurate, and user-friendly visual products, including maps, dashboards, charts, infographics, and other data products. The GIS/Data Visualization Specialist will work closely with the Knowledge Management Lead, Database Manager, and other technical staff to produce high-quality outputs that support decision-making, reporting, learning, and knowledge sharing. This is a full-time, Amman-based role with a period of performance from September 2026 – September 2027.

• Lead or support GIS and data visualization work across Jordan MELA activities.
• Produce maps, dashboards, charts, infographics, and other visual products that communicate findings clearly and effectively.
• Develop spatial analyses and GIS products to support planning, monitoring, coverage analysis, and decision-making.
• Clean, organize, and prepare data for visualization and mapping purposes.
• Collaborate with technical staff to translate program data into accessible visual formats for diverse audiences.
• Support the design and maintenance of interactive dashboards and reporting tools.
• Ensure that all visual products are accurate, well-labeled, and aligned with client and project needs.
• Work with the Database Manager and Knowledge Management Lead to ensure data are properly structured and accessible for visualization.
• Support routine and ad hoc reporting products, portfolio review materials, and learning products.
• Assist in maintaining geospatial data standards, metadata, and documentation.
• Support quality control processes for visualization and GIS products.
• Contribute to the development of user-friendly products that strengthen evidence use and communication.
• Respond to requests for visual products and spatial analysis in a timely and flexible manner.
• Coordinate with the broader MELA team to ensure consistency in style, branding, and technical quality.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in geography, GIS, data science, statistics, information systems, international development, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in GIS, data visualization, data analysis, or related technical work.
• Demonstrated experience developing maps, dashboards, and other data visualization products.
• Strong knowledge of GIS software and visualization tools such as ArcGIS, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
• Experience working with development, MEL, or foreign assistance data preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and quality assurance skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information in clear, accessible visual formats.
• Experience working in Jordan and/or the MENA region strongly preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic required.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
• This position has no work or environmental factors outside of a standard office environment.
Additional Information
• This is a full-time position. The expected working day is from Sunday to Thursday, 40 hours per week.
• This position is required to be in the office Sunday – Thursday. This arrangement is subject to review and may change at the company’s discretion.
