Geologist / Environmental Scientist

This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on. Relocation is not available for this position. Local candidates will be considered first.
Education & Experience:
• Candidates must have a BS degree in geology, environmental science or related technical discipline.
• 1-3 years of experience
• Field experience should include soil logging and sampling, installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, and aquifer testing.
• Experience in performing hazardous waste site investigations and various types of sampling, including low-flow groundwater sampling, surface water, sediment, soil, subsurface vapor, and air sampling is desired; remediation experience is a plus.
• Experience performing Phase I and Phase II ESAs a plus.
• 40-Hour OSHA training with Hazmat is a plus. 30-Hour OSHA Construction Contractor certification is a plus. First Aid and CPR training are a plus.

Perform field investigations that could potentially require the following: Performing strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and adverse weather conditions; remain in stationary position, move/traverse to facilitate operation of the equipment and collecting samples; moving earth via shovels or hand augers; lifting of pumps, other remediation equipment, cases containing equipment, sample coolers and other items weighing between 1 and 50 pounds; and potential exposure to natural (e.g., poison ivy), physical and chemical hazards. Ability to perform and maintain rigorous detailed documentation of field activities. Field work often involves extended hours on site.
Work Environment:

Field work will include indoor and outdoor environments that are hot & humid, cold, and occasionally wet. Field work will be conducted on hazardous waste sites, non-hazardous waste sites, active and in-active filling stations, active and in-active industrial facilities, commercial properties, and federal installations. Candidate must be able and available to travel via land and/or air and possess a valid drivers’ license in good standing. Travel required may be up to or exceed 75% based on project assignments.
Language & Communication Skills: Candidate must be fluent in the English language – writing and speaking. Spanish Language – writing and speaking fluency is a plus.
Mathematical Skills: Candidates must be competent in the mathematical skills required for successful completion of their degree. Candidates must be able to apply their math skills as required in the office and field to perform their required duties.
Other Skills: Candidate must be able to use Microsoft Windows – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. AutoCAD, Arc GIS, Surfer, gINT, and LogPlot are a plus.
