Position Summary:

We are seeking Entry-Mid-level Geologist/Environmental Engineers to support environmental due diligence, assessment and remediation projects.  Employees will, under supervision of a professional geologist/Professional Engineer, perform scientific and technical tasks such as fieldwork, sampling, well-site observation and data collection, preparation of graphs and maps, report writing, and assisting in report preparation.  Work will include general environmental assignments including environmental due diligence studies, petroleum site assessments and remedial investigations.  Perform environmental projects in accordance with EPA, FDOT, FDEP, DERM and other county, state, and federal regulations.  Perform field assessment and remediation activities as directed by supervisor.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform project tasks on public and private sector environmental projects.
  • Significant involvement as team member on field tasks including soil and groundwater sampling, well installation oversite, environmental site assessments, etc.
  • Assist in preparation of work plans and reports under direction of senior staff.
  • Assist in data evaluation and report preparation for Petroleum, Agri-chemical, CERCLA and RCRA sites.
  • Perform accurate data collection, documentation, and transmittal to file repository.
  • Make field determinations and perform problem solving based on site data.
  • Interpret basic geologic information; prepare boring logs, cross sections, and groundwater flow maps.
  • Assist with field testing for estimation of aquifer hydraulic properties and evaluation of aquifer test data.
  • Conduct statistical analysis of data sets to support project objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Geology, Engineering, environmental science, or a related physical science.

  • 0-5 years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently and in groups.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply environmental regulations and agency guidance documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to job sites around Florida, occasionally for multiple days.

The Applicant must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

While performing the duties of this job the employee will frequently work independently or cooperatively as a member of a project team. Typically, the job requires the ability to travel to and work at remote project locations - and periodically to ensure proper completion of field activities - for extended periods of time (potentially 20 days/month). The employee will regularly work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.  Since we are in Florida and do most of our work here, heat is often an issue. The employee will frequently work with equipment collecting environmental samples which could involve moving earth via shovels or hand augers. The employee will frequently work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and risk of radiation.  The noise level is frequently loud. Appropriate safety precautions are always taken to prevent injury due to the working conditions.

  • Employment Type: Full-Time.
  • Work Schedule: Standard business hours, Monday through Friday; occasional extended hours or overtime may be required based on business needs.
