Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Geo-environmental Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of ground investigation and consultancy services across a diverse client base, including infrastructure, healthcare, education and defence. You’ll support projects from initial desk studies through to on-site supervision and reporting, ensuring high standards of technical quality and compliance. Your Impact in this position
You will support the planning, execution and management of geotechnical and geo-environmental investigations. Your work will involve collecting and analysing site data, producing clear and technically robust reports, and undertaking groundwater and ground gas monitoring. Your input will directly inform design decisions, risk management and project delivery, ensuring safe and effective outcomes for clients.

Technical Delivery: Apply your knowledge to support the design and execution of ground investigations, producing accurate desk studies and interpretative assessments that inform project decisions.
Site Operations: Confidently supervise site activities including logging, sampling and contractor coordination, ensuring efficient and compliant investigation works.
Data & Reporting Excellence: Collect, analyse and present environmental and geotechnical data with precision, delivering clear, concise and technically sound reports.
Health, Safety & Compliance: Embed best practice in health, safety and environmental management across all activities, maintaining high standards on site and in reporting.
Collaboration & Communication: Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, building strong working relationships and communicating technical information with clarity and confidence.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Degree in geology, engineering geology or environmental science, with experience in ground investigation including site work, monitoring and reporting. Strong communication and IT skills, with a solid understanding of HSE practices. Willingness to travel for site work (around 50%, including occasional overnight stays) and a full UK driving licence required. Eligibility for security clearance is essential. Desirable certifications include CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, CAT & Genny, First Aid and Water Hygiene.
Working Environment
Based in Edinburgh with a flexible hybrid working model. Expect a mix of office, site and remote working, depending on project requirements. Flexible working patterns are supported, with site work forming a significant and rewarding part of the role.
