About the role
As Financial Controller you will lead our finance function and provide strategic financial oversight across the organisation. This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring strong financial governance, accurate reporting, and effective financial management to support sustainable growth.
This role will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance and cashflow management. You will play a critical role in strengthening internal controls, improving processes and delivering meaningful financial insights to support executive decision-making.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts in accordance with Accounting Standards and company policies.
- Manage year‑end processes, coordinating with external auditors and supporting statutory accounts preparation.
- Ensure compliance with Australian regulatory requirements including GST and FBT.
- Maintain and continuously improve financial controls, policies and procedures.
- Lead, mentor and develop the finance team, directly overseeing multiple reports and promoting a culture of accountability and professional growth.
- Support the annual budgeting cycle and rolling forecasting process in partnership with operational teams.
- Manage the Treasury function, including credit control and cashflow forecasting.
- Oversee internal and external audits, responding to audit queries and implementing agreed recommendations.
- Manage financial systems (ERP and reporting tools) and drive process improvements and automation to increase efficiency.
- Ensure strong internal controls and risk management frameworks are embedded across finance and projects.
- Undertake and address other duties as required to meet business needs.
Selection criteria
- CA or CPA qualified (essential).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Financial Controller role or similar.
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing finance teams.
- Proven experience in financial control, management accounting and compliance within a complex or multi‑stakeholder environment.
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation and statutory reporting.
- Demonstrated experience with year‑end processes and external audit coordination.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/financial systems.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present financial information clearly to non‑finance stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills, high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Solutions‑focused, proactive approach to process improvement and automation.
- Experience managing complex financial reporting requirements.
