Environmental Technician

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in environmental field services, remediation system operation and management, construction/demolition oversite and management, equipment inventory and management, and subcontractor oversite and management. Responsibilities:
The Staff Technician is a full-time field services position that requires working closely with senior engineers and project managers, while providing technical support related to various environmental and remediation projects in Georgia and the Southeast.
• Performing soil and groundwater sampling activities at various environmental project sites throughout Georgia and the Southeast.
• Assisting with routine Operation and Maintenance (O&M) activities at various remediation systems throughout Georgia and possibly the Southeast;
• Assisting in the maintenance of remediation systems to achieve an operational runtime in conformance with regulatory and/or client requirements;
• Completing weekly/monthly inspection reports, progress reports, and field reports for regulatory and/or client submittal;
• Managing equipment and supply inventory for field service activities;
• Supporting various environmental investigation and construction/demolition projects as needed;
• Complying with and leading field Health and Safety protocols; and
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of experience in environmental field services including proven experience with all skills and items listed above;
• Ability to work independently and efficiently from the field with little to no oversite; and
• 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPPER Certified
Education & Experience:
Experienced in standard soil, groundwater, and air sampling protocol. Limited experience managing subcontracted equipment maintenance and disposal contractors including managing health and safety protocols. Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows – based word processing and spreadsheet software.

Perform field investigations that could potentially require the following: Performing strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and adverse weather conditions; standing, crouching and sitting to facilitate operation of the equipment and collecting samples; moving earth via shovels or hand augers; lifting of pumps, other remediation equipment, cases containing equipment, sample coolers and other items weighing between 1 and 50 pounds; and potential exposure to natural (e.g., poison ivy), physical and chemical hazards. Ability to perform and maintain rigorous detailed documentation of field activities. Field work often involves extended hours on site.
Work Environment:
Field work will include indoor and outdoor environments that are hot & humid, cold, and occasionally wet. Field work will be conducted on hazardous waste sites, non-hazardous waste sites, active and in-active filling stations, active and in-active industrial facilities, commercial properties, and federal installations. Candidate must be able and available to travel via land and/or air and possess a valid drivers’ license in good standing. Travel required may be up to 100% based on project assignments.
Language & Communication Skills:
Must be fluent in the English language – writing and speaking, etc.; Report writing requirements, etc.
Mathematical Skills:
General mathematical skills are required plus occasional use of upper level mathematics.
Other Skills:
Computer Skills including the use of Microsoft Windows – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc… are a plus.
Heavy equipment operation (yellow iron) experience a plus.
