The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is looking for a part-time Environmental Technician to work in the Denver, Colorado area.  You must live within the Denver, CO area.    

Position Summary
The selected candidate will provide environmental air sampling support in the Denver, Colorado area. You will collect particulate samples from sites located around the city of Denver. The daily routine will involve sample collection, sample documentation, and transportation to a designated laboratory. You will be trained in standard operating procedures and air sample equipment mechanical maintenance.

Sample collection is completed daily, 365 days a year, including weekends and holidays. The collection of samples occurs during an early morning 4-hour shift from 4:30am - 8:30am with a schedule of two (2) weeks of sampling, followed by one (1) week off, then repeat.

Additional monthly group meetings and trainings are scheduled with advanced notice (may take place remotely or in person) during normal business hours

The ideal candidate must be highly motivated, punctual, reliable, customer focused, have excellent communication skills and work well in a team environment. More so, one must be able to teach others and quickly pick up additional skills as needed. This position requires the ability to perform tasks without a lot of oversight. Additionally, this role requires the ability to perform, or willingness to learn, minor electrical and mechanical repairs.

This position allows the potential to support other projects and/or tasks that may arise in relation to other contracts outside of the listed above work.

Essential Job Functions

The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions:
•    Daily driving and collection of air samples
•    Documentation of sample collection and delivery
•    Efficient communication and coordination within a team
•    Ability to perform, or willingness to learn, minor electrical and mechanical repairs


Required Qualifications
•    Degree: High school graduate required. 
•    Years of Experience: 0-2 years
•    Knowledge, skills, experience: 
           o    Ability to document notes in an electronic form
           o    Organizational skills
           o    Strong observational skills and attention to detail 
•    Candidate must live in the Denver, CO area and maintain a valid U.S. Driver’s License. 
•    Passing a government background check is required.
•    Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver’s license and safe driving record is required.

Preferred Qualifications
•    B.A/B.S. in Environmental Science or related degree desirable.
•    Mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience
•    Experience with 
          o    Particulate air sampling or other field sampling media
          o    Maintaining air sampling equipment
          o    Conducting environmental field work

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Reasonable accommodations may be made. 
•    Daily driving, walking, and climbing (ladder and/or stairs)
•    Occasional lifting of equipment with team assistance (approx. 105 lbs.)
•    Daily bending to perform sample collection. 
•    You must be able to drive on a regular basis.  


Work Environment/Environmental Factors
•    Sampling occurs daily in all weather conditions and extreme temperatures both hot and cold.
•    Sampling is conducted outdoors. 
•    Tasks may include handling mechanical and electrical components.  
•    Daily driving is required (~60 miles/day).


Additional Information 
•    Work schedule: Daily 4:30am – 8:30am, including weekends and holidays.
•    Rotation: Scheduled two (2) weeks of sampling, one (1) week off, then repeat. 
•    Meeting schedule: 1-2 hours, monthly during normal business hours (may take place remotely or in person) with advance notice. 
•    Night/weekend requirements: Sampling occurs on weekends and holidays
•    Work locations: Remote field work, driving to sampling sites and laboratory

Tetra Tech offers a basic core medical plan and our 401k retirement plan for this position.

The Hourly Rate for this position is $28.00/hour, depending on education, experience, skills, and location.
