Environmental Scientist Junior Level
Ready to start your career? Tetra Tech is looking for a Junior level Geologist, Environmental Scientist or Engineer. The Candidate will be responsible for supporting field investigations (including soil, water, and air sampling; drilling and subcontractor supervision, and coordination with analytical laboratories), construction and/or remedial action oversight, health and safety air monitoring, and preparation of technical reports. This role will work in the field under the supervision of a Field Operations Leader (FOL) and in the office will work collaboratively with peers, senior technical staff, project managers and under the supervision of their Operations Manager or other assigned manager.

Your Role :
• Work as a member of team(s) conducting hands-on multi-media environmental sampling, including surface and subsurface soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, ambient air, indoor air, etc.. One or more mentors will be assigned in order to provide field and office training to support growth and development.
• Assist with field preparation efforts and support field activities, coordinating with the onsite FOL as well as technical lead(s) and/or project manager(s) back in the office.
• Monitor investigative/remediation work to ensure compliance with contract specifications, regulations, and industry standards.
• Record and compile data, accurately and timely, into coherent products for project team and customer use.
• Assist with interpreting data patterns and trends, compare to regulatory standards and assist in the development of recommendations for actions based on regulatory constraints.
• Assist with preparation of written documents, sampling and analysis plans, data summary reports, and technical evaluations.
• Complete other duties as they may be assigned to support investigation and remediation projects.
Qualifications :
• A bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) or master’s degree (MS) in Geology, Geological Sciences or Engineering, or a bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences (e.g., Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology) is required.
• Junior level position with 0-2 years of work experience in the environmental consulting, engineering, or related industry.
• Previous field experience preferred, including sampling activities and environmental drilling operations.
• A driver’s license current and valid for a state in the United States is required. . Due to the clients we work with, US citizenship is required
• Experience preparing technical reports, memos, response to comments tables, and diagrams is a plus. A competent technical writer is desired.
• Knowledge of and ability to analyze chemistry and environmental data is desired.
• Experience with interfacing with clients, subcontractors, working groups, and internal customers desired but not required.
• Working knowledge of the conceptual site model (CSM) process is preferred. Knowledge and/or experience including CERCLA PA/SI and RI/FS is preferred.
• GIS experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook is required.
• Experience or coursework with database software such as Access, SQL Server or others is a plus.
• Existing certifications for Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training specified in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.120 (e) is preferred.
