Environmental Scientist I – Parsippany, NJ
Requirements:
- B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science, Biology or related scientific discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of experience.
- Current OHSA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification (40 CFR 1910.120) and/or CPR and first aid training or be willing able to obtain the certifications in a timely manner
- Experience with field surveys in support of a variety project including Phase I and II site investigations and site remediation investigations.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Solid Microsoft (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project) and other software tool skills.
- Must have a valid driver license and be able to pass the company DMV check to be a Tetra Tech-qualified driver of corporate/rental vehicles.
- Ability to pass background check (as required for project work).
- Willingness for overnight travel essential.
Special requirements:
- Must have or be willing to get 40 hr. HAZWOPER Training.
- Must pass physical for conducting manual field work.
- Must be willing to do field work under a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be willing to travel.
Most important duties:
- Collect and organize data into tables and assist with data interpretation.
- Assist with report preparation under direction of a supervisor.
- Conducting field work under different field conditions.
- Collect environmental media samples using approved work plans and HASPs.
- Use of GPS and electronic note pad data collection.
- Required to collect detailed field notes while working with subcontractors and Tetra Tech staff.
- Collect and organize data into tables and assist with data interpretation.
