Environmental Scientist (Entry-level) Appleton, WI

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, geology, geography, soil science or biology.
• GIS background required. 
• Studies in environmental subjects required. 
• Less than 1-year professional experience.
• Experience in GIS required.
• Experience or class work in vegetation identification and soil science is a plus.
• Able and willing to travel for assignments, including multi-day field work assignments across the U.S. 
• Travel includes 50% of time for first 3 years and less in subsequent years. 
• Travel outside of Wisconsin required.
• Physical outdoor work is primary task including investigations on hazardous waste sites, wetlands, pipeline corridors, solar sites, and other environmental sites. 
• A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Other Desirable Knowledge and Experience:

• Working knowledge of ArcGIS.
• Soil science a plus. 
• Biology background a plus.
• Good writing skills, example of writing requested prior to interview.
• Good organizational and time management skills with the ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and project responsibilities.
• Responsible, equally suited to working independently or in a team environment involving a suite of restoration professionals including engineering, geology, biology, ecology and geomorphology.
• General working knowledge of land survey techniques preferred, including use of RTK-GPS and Total Station equipment, as well as software such as Trimble Business Center.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Has ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing 35 lbs. and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
• Performs manual labor including excavation with shovels. 
• Availability to work extended field rotations (sometimes 10-12 days at a time).
