Tetra Tech’s Portage office is seeking a motivated Scientist/Geologist/Engineer Intern to join our high-performing team to continue providing top-of-the-line client services.

Essential Job Functions:
This is a paid internship that provides the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in various aspects of environmental site investigation and remediation field. The position is open to graduates with a 4-year or higher degree in geology, environmental engineering or science, geographic information systems, geography, physical/chemical sciences, biology, and related environmental disciplines from an accredited university, or a student enrolled in same. Duties will be a mix of office work and field work including:
Observe and document field construction activities.
Sample and data collection including: collecting water samples and completing field testing of water samples.
Courier samples to the laboratories.
Summarize environmental data for input into technical reports.
Create accurate data tables and input information into technical reports.
Perform general administrative tasks.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Graduates with a 4-year or higher degree in geology, environmental engineering or science, geographic information systems, geography, physical/chemical sciences, biology, and related environmental disciplines from an accredited university.
0 – 2 years of relevant experience.
Must be computer literate and have knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro
A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online is preferred.
40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 20 - 50 pounds.
Ability to travel and perform field work (approx. < 25% of travel required).
Ability to walk across variable terrain, including uneven ground, in all weather conditions (hot/cold temperatures, loud noises, heavy equipment, etc.) for field work.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
Work will be performed in an office and field setting.
Field work will include work to be performed outside, and as a result will include working in various environmental factors (weather, altitude, terrain, noise, heavy equipment, etc.). This can include remaining stationary for long periods of time, walking, bending, lifting, and sitting for sampling, assessments, inspections, and other field activities.
Occasionally work will be performed in an office or office trailer setting which will include sitting or standing at a desk, using a computer, and using office/lab equipment.
Additional Information:
Part-time temporary position, no scheduled hours. Hours will vary based on project/client needs.
