Environmental Professional (Remote Monitoring Specialist) – Los Alamos, NM
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field, plus four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, knowledge, and experience.
- Ability to read, understand, and implement technical documentation (schematics for microelectronics, technical manuals, etc.)
- Familiarity and basic competence with electrical and mechanical tools (for example, multimeter, oscilloscope, and radio frequency tools).
- Experience with operating and maintaining cellular, radio, and satellite telemetry systems.
- Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills, including an ability to author technical documents and communicate findings to a wide variety of audiences.
- Self-motivated professional who demonstrates strong time management, organization, and communication skills.
- Experience with microcontroller, PLC, or microprocessor programming.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment as well as independently.
- Familiarity with the LANL site, access requirements, general employee requirements, and work environment preferred.
- Mindfulness and sensitivity to the environmental and socio-political requirements surrounding LANL cleanup efforts.
- A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Moderate Work)

Light Work Category:
- Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work
- The employee exerts up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Will also be carrying up to 30 pounds while hiking. Outside working conditions in the area vary greatly and can range from 0˚F to over 90˚F at altitudes between 7,000 and 11,000 feet.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, hike, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
