Tech2 Solutions (T2S) is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team and will be providing program management and technical services in support of the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory.

 

T2S is a full-service engineering and environmental consulting company with a worldwide reach in the areas of environmental monitoring and remediation, national security, systems engineering, data management and analytics for both federal and commercial customers. 

 

T2S is currently seeking a Remote Monitoring Specialist (Environmental Professional) under the N3B Los Alamos Legacy Cleanup Contract (LLCC). The Environmental Professional will primarily be responsible for supporting the maintenance and operation of the remote networks used in the surface water and storm water monitoring programs. The Environmental Professional will also assist in providing training to field technicians and technical support to program policy makers and stakeholders. In addition, the Environmental Professional will coordinate the maintenance and installation of telemetry equipment.

 

This position requires the reading and interpretation of federal regulations, preparation of technical reports, and peer review of data deliverables. The Environmental Professional must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for disseminating information to team members, clients, and stakeholders. The Environmental Professional will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; maintain required safety, security and operational training; ensure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to pause or stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret applicable federal and site-specific technical guidance/requirements. Implement requirements as applicable and communicate findings clearly to provide guidance for program management.
  • Author technical reports, expertise in data analysis, develop technical content, and review documents as required.
  • Maintain and develop standard operating procedures for monitoring equipment systems.
  • Coordinate with and take direction from project leads as required.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, or direct the maintenance of remote monitoring equipment.
  • Develop and provide training for office and field staff who use or operate remote monitoring systems.
  • Comply with all health & safety policies and practices.
  • Comply with all site access and security requirements. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field, plus four years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, knowledge, and experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and implement technical documentation (schematics for microelectronics, technical manuals, etc.)
  • Familiarity and basic competence with electrical and mechanical tools (for example, multimeter, oscilloscope, and radio frequency tools).
  • Experience with operating and maintaining cellular, radio, and satellite telemetry systems.
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills, including an ability to author technical documents and communicate findings to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Self-motivated professional who demonstrates strong time management, organization, and communication skills.
  • Experience with microcontroller, PLC, or microprocessor programming.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment as well as independently.
  • Familiarity with the LANL site, access requirements, general employee requirements, and work environment preferred. 
  • Mindfulness and sensitivity to the environmental and socio-political requirements surrounding LANL cleanup efforts.
  • A Pre-employment drug screen in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements (Moderate Work)

Light Work Category:

  • Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work
  • The employee exerts up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Will also be carrying up to 30 pounds while hiking. Outside working conditions in the area vary greatly and can range from 0˚F to over 90˚F at altitudes between 7,000 and 11,000 feet.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, hike, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
