Environmental Field Technician (Environmental Remediation) - Northern New Jersey (Tri-State Project Sites)
Your Qualifications:

Minimum High School Diploma and 1 year of general working experience.

Preferred A.S. or B.S Degree in environmental science or other natural science (geology, biology, ecology, etc.).

OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER preferred with current eight-hour OSHA HAZWOPER refresher preferred.

Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude required
-
Ability to learn and work with complex field monitoring equipment including but not limited to flame-ionization detectors (FIDs), photo-ionization detectors (PIDs), explosive gas detectors, water level detectors PH/temperature/conductivity meters, and other typical environmental monitoring equipment.

Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions

Ability to learn general groundwater, soil gas, soil, and air sampling techniques including applicable environmental and health & safety regulations and regulatory requirements.

Ability to be familiar with operations and maintenance techniques for landfill gas and landfill fluids collection systems.

Ability to build and retain mutual relationships with clients.

Some heavy equipment operation, HDPE pipe fusion experience a plus.

The employee is occasionally required to sit. *The employee will be subject to physical exertion and must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 50 pounds on a non-consistent basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
*The employee may work in the field for extended periods. The employee must be able to work in personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirator (on rare occasions) and must have physical clearance for PPE. *Ability to drive and operate a vehicle. An annual medical exam may be necessary based on the work assignment.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment may vary based on the assignment. Hearing protection may be necessary. Work may involve use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator (on rare occasions).
Work will be conducted both in an outdoor field environment and on occasion in the office. Outdoor work will involve potential for exposure to various physical and chemical hazards of varying degree and type. This will include work under heat and cold stress and other adverse environmental conditions.

You will be required to drive on a regular basis for Company business you must maintain a safe driving record as defined by Tetra Tech’s Vehicle Safety program. An offer of employment is contingent upon successful evaluation of a motor vehicle (MVR) check.

You will be required to successfully pass a uranalysis drug screen. Tetra Tech Solid Waste East is a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol business as such you will be subject to quarterly random drug screens where allowable by law.

An offer is also contingent on either successful completion or valid proof of a completed 40 Hour HAZWOPER and/or OSHA 10 Hour Construction certificate as defined by Tetra Tech

A job offer is contingent upon passing a required comprehensive Medical Examination.
Pay: $24-27 an hour and any overtime (for work above 40 hours in a week) will be at the 1.5 Overtime Rate, commensurate with skill level, geography region and experience.
