Your Role:

At Tetra Tech, you will work with high-performing teams who are passionate about using their expertise to find solutions to complex problems in water, environment, infrastructure, resource management, energy, and international development. Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Environmental Engineer / Project Manager for our Chicago, IL operations. The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background in environmental site investigation and remediation who is interested in career growth while managing and supporting a variety of public and private sector environmental projects. This position offers a great opportunity for an individual who wants to make a positive impact on the environment and local communities by performing the following: 

  • Provide design and oversight support for several of our environmental design and remediation projects.
  • Manage and conduct subsurface soil, hydrogeological, and sediment investigations.
  • Develop conceptual remedial action plans, remedial cost estimates, and remedial designs for a variety of complex remediation and habitat restoration projects.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary technical teams to bring about successful project completion.
  • Respond to clients and customers.
  • Prepare cost estimates for various scopes of work.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates must have 5-10+ years of environmental consulting or related experience.  Qualified candidates must also have/be:

  • Strong analytical, organizational, client management, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Work well in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Previous experience with environmental site investigations and remediation (including under CERCLA, the Illinois Site Remediation Program, or the Great Lakes Legacy Act). 

The ideal candidate should also have the preferred experience and skills:

  • Previous private or public sector client management experience.
  • Education or previous experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2020 or later.
  • Strong technical writing.
  • Applicable experience and training with GIS data analysis, geostatistics, and hydraulic and hydrologic modeling.

In addition:

  • This position requires driving on a regular basis. Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.

 

Degree / Certifications:

  • B.S. degree in civil, environmental, or related engineering field required. 
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
  • Current 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training certification is preferred.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Heavy lifting of field sampling and other equipment will be required.
  • Must meet physical demands of hazardous waste site work.

 

Work Environment:

  • Primary work environments are office and field, with remote hybrid work flexibility depending on project requirements.  
  • Occasional travel to client sites and other locations to conduct meetings, site visits, field work, etc. will be required.
