The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding a highly motivated Environmental Compliance Project Manager to join our growing energy compliance and site restoration practice. This team supports environmental compliance monitoring, restoration ecology, revegetation, and restoration science activities associated with utility-scale renewable energy generation, transmission, and infrastructure projects.

 

The successful candidate will manage environmental compliance and restoration projects from planning and permitting through construction and early operations. This position offers opportunities to work with multidisciplinary teams, regulatory agencies, contractors, and clients on some of the most significant renewable energy projects throughout the western United States.

 

Location: Flexible within the Western United States (Remote or Hybrid)

Your Role:

Project Management

  • Manage environmental compliance and restoration projects from initiation through completion.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate project teams consisting of environmental scientists, biologists, restoration specialists, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations.
  • Support proposal preparation, work planning, staffing coordination, and project forecasting.

Environmental Compliance & Restoration

  • Manage environmental compliance activities during pre-construction, construction, and early operational phases of utility-scale energy projects.
  • Oversee environmental monitors, restoration crews, and revegetation contractors.
  • Monitor site conditions and ensure compliance with permit requirements and environmental commitments.
  • Support restoration planning, implementation, monitoring, and adaptive management efforts.
  • Evaluate restoration performance and provide recommendations for corrective actions when necessary.

Agency & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies regarding project compliance requirements.
  • Support public outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts.
  • Interpret permit requirements and land use regulations and communicate compliance obligations to project teams.
  • Interface regularly with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance related to restoration ecology, revegetation, environmental compliance, and construction monitoring.
  • Review technical reports, compliance documentation, monitoring reports, and restoration plans.
  • Support development of environmental compliance strategies and best management practices.
  • Ensure technical deliverables meet company quality standards.

Professional Development & Safety

  • Conduct activities in accordance with company procedures, legislation, permit conditions, and industry standards.
  • Promote and support a strong health and safety culture.
  • Maintain professional expertise through continuing education and industry involvement.
  • Report health and safety concerns and incidents promptly.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Restoration Ecology, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, Biology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • 5–8 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance, restoration, revegetation, or construction monitoring projects.
  • Experience managing project scopes, schedules, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of environmental compliance requirements associated with construction projects.
  • Knowledge of restoration ecology principles and revegetation practices.
  • Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies, contractors, and clients.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting renewable energy, transmission, battery storage, oil and gas, or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Experience overseeing environmental monitors and restoration contractors.
  • Experience supporting public outreach and stakeholder engagement.
  • Existing relationships with regulatory agencies in the western United States.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar credentials are a plus.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to travel regularly to project sites, client meetings, and agency meetings.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
  • Ability to walk long distances across active construction sites and restoration areas.
  • Combination of office, remote, and field-based work environments.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $100,000-$150,000 yearly

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
