Engineer IV
Tetra Tech AMT is looking for a Senior Engineer to support a highly visible new FAA project in the initial stand up of executable processes and analytics at the direction of FAA management for pre-departure planning.
Primary job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Establish a process for strategic deconfliction in collaboration with internal and external aviation stakeholders for a new FAA Traffic Flow Management Evolution Program for a potential “24/7” operation
- Work 40 hours a week but potentially work late night shifts and weekends at times to cover overnight and weekend data modeling needs
- Document the FAA process, roles, and responsibilities to enable execution of strategic deconfliction process plan for day of operations in the National Airspace System (NAS).
- Work with FAA and industry vendor(s) who will architect and build the analytical data model and provide feedback as necessary
- As needed, support the training of FAA staff on process execution related to newly designed traffic flow management program
- Document all lessons learned and FAA process improvement opportunities for evolution of strategic deconfliction processes/capability
- Provide expertise in the design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical FAA products and systems
- Collaborate with FAA stakeholders and external industry partners (as needed) to obtain necessary data to operate logistically optimized model
- Enter data into analytical models (long range and same day planning) to develop strategic deconfliction plans
- Apply knowledge in the domain of engineering to optimize NAS strategic deconfliction plan.
- Define post event analysis criteria and data expectations
- Document recommended process improvement opportunities
The successful candidate will have:
- A deep background in air traffic management and airport operations including FAA traffic flow management practices
- Broad knowledge of engineering procedures and can provide technical expertise in the application of state-of-the-art technology to meet FAA mission and aerospace requirements
- Flexible work schedule that may require working at FAA in-person and cover nights, weekends and even some holidays during the year as this is in support of a national and highly visible FAA project.
- Potentially be on call to cover shifts when anticipated higher days of operations or team members are unavailable/on scheduled vacation
- At least 15 years of professional years of experience supporting projects as an engineer in any engineering discipline but preferably in support of the FAA/NASA or at least the federal government
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering (e.g. civil, electrical, electronic, chemical, industrial, mechanical, aeronautical, avionics, environmental, or computer) or related field
Salary: $150,000 to $160,000 annually. Compensation is based on relevant experience and qualifications.
