Emergency Management Exercise Specialist
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in emergency management within the Southern California area. Demonstrated experience designing, conducting and evaluating emergency management exercises consistent with the Homeland Security Exercise & Evaluation Program (HSEEP). At least 2 years’ experience in emergency management consulting with an advanced understanding of project management concepts, including client management and performing to a project scope and time-line under the guidance of a project manager. Must be able to work independently and effectively coordinate projects at the ground level on a daily basis on behalf of the project manager. Prefer at least 4 years’ experience conducting HSEEP exercises for a major utility.
You should have the following:
• Strong oral communication skills with proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff.
• Strong writing skills with an ability to provide periodic editorial support to the client.
• Strong research and data analysis background.
• Familiarity with social media platforms and public outreach techniques.
• Must be willing to support client requests for assistance with planned events, emergency response, and activations outside of normal operating hours.
• Must demonstrate a flexible style and an ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.
• Must demonstrate ability to thoroughly and correctly deliver client-requested secondary tasks under expedited time constraints.
• Ability to present information and reports to both operational and executive groups.
• Ability to compile data using spreadsheets and forms.
• Ability to conduct general administrative duties (e.g. scheduling, document formatting, printing) using desktop computer applications.
• Ability to organize and coordinate participation in meetings and exercises.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college required, Master's degree preferred.
Other Preferred Qualifications:
• Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute or equivalent
• Certification as a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) from the International Association of Emergency Managers
• Certified Business Continuity Planner
This position requires you to drive on a regular basis and will require passing a motor vehicle record (MVR) background check. In addition, you must be able to obtain and maintain a secret level security clearance if necessary.
This position also requires roughly 50% of your time traveling including overnight stays.
