EI&C Designer VI
Your Role:
Electrical & Instrumentation Designers play a crucial role in our business, ensuring that systems and equipment are designed, installed and maintained to meet safety standards and operation requirements. They work on projects ranging from power plants to manufacturing facilities, focusing on electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems. This Electrical& Instrumentation Designer VI position requires a blend of technical knowledge, creativity and attention to detail.
Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrated capability in successfully completing, leading projects and multiple simultaneous projects and multiple subordinate team members.
Interacts and coordinates well with other discipline team members.
Supports specification of electrical equipment, conduit and wire sizing, load lists.
Knowledge to plan, design, and commission all aspects of Oil Production and Natural Gas Facilities including: TIC estimates, design basis creation, customer interface, One-Lines, Cable Schedules and sizing, P&ID development, control system design, instrument specification, QA/QC, vendor and contractor coordination, shop inspections and factory acceptance testing, electrical study modeling, and commissioning/start up support
PHA participation as required
Operational knowledge of spreadsheet and database programs.
Ability to supervise others to generate one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and physical layout drawings (lighting, grounding, electrical area classification plans)
Works directly with Engineers and Designers to prepare project deliverables with no supervision
Expert knowledge of P&IDs, electrical & instrumentation drawings from a set of redlines using company/client drafting guidelines.
AutoCAD tasks - 3D Modeling, Electrical One Lines, Lighting and Power Plan Drawings, and PLC and Junction Box Details and Wiring Diagrams
Develops and improves technical knowledge and skills
Maintains professionalism in relationships with other office and team members
Constructively builds and maintains relationships with others on the project design team
Travel required when requested
Makes site visits to observe during construction and operation
Qualifications:
High school diploma and post-secondary training is preferred.
Community College or Trade School certificate, electrical drafting focus preferred
12+ years’ experience. Oil and Gas and other Process Control, Manufacturing or Fabrication Industries experience required.
Advanced experience in design, drafting, and 3D modeling.
Expert knowledge of current engineering design and drafting software packages including: AutoCAD, 3D Design, CadWORX P&ID, CadWORX Plant, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Access, SKM, and various vendor specific sizing softwares (Daniels, MicroMotion, Fisher, TraceCalc Pro, etc.)
Ability to logically organize and multi-task work in a fast pace environment
Ability to listen to others and ask clarifying questions at appropriate time
Willingness to accept suggestions and corrections on organization and planning issues
Seeks help to understand and productively work through conflict to keep tasks moving forward
Strong verbal and written communications skills that are well organized and persuasive
Requires minimal supervision and able to supervise others.
Ability to mentor less experienced team members is required.
Highly detail oriented.
Target Salary Range: $137,000 to $147,680 Please note that Tetra Tech considers numerous factors in determining pay, including but not limited to education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business
Physical Requirements:
Constantly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms.
Constantly use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, or manipulate objects.
Light work that includes lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and, occasionally, up to 50 pounds.
Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.
Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
Requires composure and ability to prioritize and manage several urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a prominent level of competence and accuracy.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
Environmental factors mostly consist of work being conducted in an indoor office environment, but are not limited to extreme temperatures (e.g., cold, heat), fumes, variable weather conditions, outdoor work, and noise due to some travel & work on worksites.

This position offers the flexibility to have a hybrid in-office work schedule.
