Tech2 Solutions (T2S) is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team and will be providing program management and technical services in support of the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory. T2S is adding an experienced Drilling Field Team Lead to support onsite operations in Los Alamos, NM. The selected candidate will ensure all activities are performed safely, securely, and in compliance with regulatory and procedural requirements. This role includes the authority to stop work if unsafe or non-compliant conditions are identified.

Your Role:

Field Leadership & Oversight

  • Serve as Person in Charge (PIC) for drilling and well activities
  • Oversee drilling and pump subcontractor activities, including drilling and sampling system repairs
  • Execute daily plans of the day and maintain detailed technical logbook records
  • Prepare daily field reports documenting onsite activities
  • Interface with site visitors, including QA, Engineering, SWPPP, Operations, and stakeholders
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Management Team on field progress

 

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Conduct daily ESH tailgates
  • Ensure compliance with all project plans, regulatory requirements, and safety procedures
  • Act as site Environmental, Health, and Safety representative
  • Support oversight and random audits of subcontractors by the prime contractor
  • Comply with all health and safety policies and practices

 

Technical & Operational Support

  • Coordinate drilling and well maintenance activities
  • Coordinate waste management support
  • Coordinate groundwater sampling and site/waste characterization efforts
  • Coordinate collection of drill cuttings during drilling activities
  • Assist with preparation of reports and project records
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager on site access, communications, and event notifications
  • Professional Standards
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain discipline knowledge
  • Work safely at all times and report health and safety incidents or concerns
  • Perform additional duties as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geoscience or a related technical discipline preferred
  • Equivalent education and/or relevant experience may be considered
  • 5–7 years of experience in water well drilling and/or groundwater sampling system maintenance
  • Multi-screen sampling systems experience preferred
  • Broad understanding of groundwater remediation principles and drilling/well installation practices
  • Ability to perform complex professional tasks independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to train and mentor junior staff
  • Strong communication, documentation, and computer skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented project environment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government clearance
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen.

Physical Demands:

Light Work Category - Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. The employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, walk across uneven terrain, and exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Project location is at altitude exceeding 7000 feet above sea level, employee must have ability to perform duties at high altitude.

 

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. During drilling and well maintenance work on site, work often moves to a 7day/12hr (day & night) shift schedule in order to cover 24/7 drilling. Typical field schedule is 7 days on/7 off rotation. Office schedule required during times between field activities.

 

Work Environment: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate throughout the work shift. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
