The Opportunity

Driving strategic sustainable growth for the business, The Deputy Head of Strategic Growth at Tetra Tech International Development is a pivotal leadership role that drives the execution of business development strategies, expands market opportunities, and enhances client engagement to deliver positive results over the short, medium and long term.

This role is instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the organisation through focused market insights, identifying and qualifying new business opportunities, and fostering deep stakeholder collaboration. The Deputy Head of Strategic Growth is committed to diversifying and growing Tetra Tech’s portfolio of work, ensuring quality outcomes, and leading a talented team of multidisciplinary experts. With demonstrated business development skills and previous results, this role translates organisational growth objectives into targeted, actionable, and ambitious plans to expand into new and emerging markets. With outstanding communication skills and the ability to build networks and respectful, trusted, and enduring relationships, this role is a key Tetra Tech Ambassador, raising the organisation's profile and expanding its potential client and partner base, creating lasting impact.

This position may be fully remote (based in Australia), hybrid, or onsite at one of our Australia offices.

Core Responsibilities

  • Expand and diversify Tetra Tech’s market portfolio, including driving growth in emerging markets.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of tenders, proposals and other business development materials.
  • Lead and work with cross-functional teams to develop compelling value propositions and innovative solutions.
  • Build and nurture relationships with clients, partners and stakeholders to enhance business opportunities.
  • Mentor and support team members to achieve professional growth and performance excellence.

You will possess:

  • Proven senior experience in business development strategy execution within a professional services or international development context.
  • Significant experience leading large cross-functional teams and driving alignment across organisational units.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated results in expanding and diversifying market portfolios for a similar organisation, and experience expanding into emerging markets such as climate change, cyber or maritime, would be highly regarded.
  • High levels of personal initiative, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure in rapidly changing environments.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to navigate politically complex contexts with professionalism and respect.
