M&E Asset Management Consultant

Turn engineering data into insight that drives smarter asset management.

Join Tetra Tech’s Asset Management team and help clients make informed decisions about the performance, compliance and lifecycle of their building services assets. Combining hands-on surveying, engineering expertise and digital tools, you’ll deliver practical insights that support safer, more efficient and sustainable built environments.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As an M&E Asset Management Consultant, you’ll survey and assess mechanical and electrical building services across a diverse portfolio of client sites. You’ll capture accurate asset data, evaluate condition and compliance, and develop clear, evidence-based recommendations to inform maintenance strategies, lifecycle planning and investment decisions.

Working with engineering, facilities management and client teams, you’ll use digital survey tools, asset management software and data analytics to improve asset information and support effective project delivery.

Your Impact in this position

You’ll help clients understand the condition, performance and future needs of their assets, translating technical findings into actionable recommendations. With opportunities to develop your expertise, contribute to high-profile projects and progressively take on greater responsibility, you’ll make a tangible difference to asset performance and long-term value.

5 Core Capabilities

  • M&E Asset Surveying: Inspect and assess HVAC, electrical, fire protection, plumbing and lift systems, capturing accurate condition, specification and lifecycle information.
  • Technical Compliance & Reporting: Apply relevant engineering standards and regulations to identify risks, assess compliance and produce clear, practical survey reports and recommendations.
  • Digital Data & Analytics: Use digital survey tools and asset management platforms to maintain reliable asset registers, analyse data and support reporting, ideally leveraging Power BI.
  • Lifecycle & Investment Planning: Turn survey findings into insights that support maintenance strategies, asset replacement planning and budget forecasting.
  • Client Collaboration & Project Delivery: Build trusted stakeholder relationships, coordinate effectively across teams, uphold health, safety and security requirements, and take ownership of your professional development.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

Bring knowledge of M&E building services, relevant compliance requirements and strong IT skills, ideally supported by up to three years’ experience in asset management, building services engineering or facilities management. Experience with digital survey tools, asset databases and Power BI is advantageous. A practical engineering or M&E design background is desirable. You’ll be analytical, self-directed, client-focused and willing to undertake DBS and Security Check (SC) screening where required. A valid driving licence is essential.

Working Environment

This is a UK-wide, site-based role involving regular travel to client locations, including London and Leeds, with occasional international assignments and overnight stays. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues and clients, with flexible working options where project requirements allow. Specific office attendance and hybrid or remote arrangements will be discussed during recruitment.
