Project Summary:
The Jordan Public Accountability and Justice Strengthening (PAJ) Activity is designed to strengthen accountability systems, procedures, and mechanisms within the Government of Jordan and judicial institutions and enhance their ability to serve and communicate effectively with the public. It also fosters awareness and pressure by civil society organizations, the public, and the private sector on the government’s adherence to the law and its international commitments to govern in an accountable manner that safeguards the rights of vulnerable populations.

Position Summary:
The Communications and Reporting Specialist, under the supervision of the Chief of Party (COP), will work together with the activity’s technical staff to develop strategic communications and awareness-raising products that highlight PAJ activities and outcomes. The Specialist will update and maintain PAJ’s communications strategy, lead the activity’s development and production of information products. The Specialist will also oversee the writing, editing, and branding of key PAJ documents to convey accurate and timely information about PAJ to various audiences, including USAID, partners, beneficiaries, and the public. The selected candidate must reside in Jordan.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and take a lead role in writing, editing, and proofreading all project documents, including weekly, quarterly, and annual reports, annual work plans, newsletters, program updates, factsheets, presentations, success stories, talking points, and speeches.
- Support development of technical teams’ external communications with editing and proofreading.
- Ensure content adheres to USAID and MSI branding and style guidelines and uses a consistent tone, style, and language to communicate to target audiences.
- Ensure reports that need to be accessible to people with disabilities comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
- Provide communications support for all events hosted by PAJ to ensure quality communications and products in accordance with USAID branding and visibility guidelines.
- Contribute to systems measuring project outcomes to demonstrate the effectiveness and impact of project interventions, in close coordination with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Manager.
- Develop ideas and concepts proactively for communications materials to disseminate learning and impact of project interventions and approaches, and collaborate with PAJ team members to develop the written materials.
- Play a lead role in identifying and directing vendors through the process of conceptualizing, planning, producing, and/or editing multimedia content and promotional materials in instances when PAJ requires external communications support.
- Coordinate with other USAID-funded projects to explore the potential for collaboration around communication and awareness-raising activities in the public sector reforms space.
- Work with PAJ management to develop systems and workflows that streamline reporting mechanisms.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by COP to ensure program visibility and effective communications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
- Minimum five years of work experience required.
- Experience in managing or contributing to the communications portfolio for USAID or other international donor-funded projects.
- Ability to translate technical concepts from Arabic to English for multiple audiences, using brief, clear, and accessible language.
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong collaboration, active listening, organizational, writing, editing, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Fluency in English required.
