The program

The Fostering Advancement of Inclusive, Rights Based (FAIR) Justice Program (the Program) will advance Australia and Philippines’ shared commitment to the rule of law, rights-based justice, and strong and accountable institutions, as vital to the stability, security, and prosperity in the Philippines and in the Indo Pacific region. Building on Australia and the Philippines’ longstanding cooperation in law and justice, the Program will support a broader justice system strengthening and ensure greater synergy with DFAT’s investments in promoting rights-based justice, countering terrorism and violent extremism, combatting human trafficking and protecting children against online abuse and exploitation, as well as justice initiatives of other donors and development partners.

The role

The Communications and Engagement Officer will develop the Communications Strategy for the FAIR Justice Program and coordinate external and internal resources to deliver successful project and public relations communications activities. They will work collaboratively with the Team Leader and the DFAT communications team to design and disseminate all promotional and communications materials, including print and digital media content.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and maintain a communications strategic plan.
  • Coordinate the production of internal and external communication and design materials.
  • Collaborate with DFAT to support the delivery of communications products and events.
  • Manage public diplomacy events.
  • Develop and maintain the FAIR Justice website and social media content.
  • Develop a communications calendar, outlining the dissemination of knowledge products generated throughout the program.
  • Develop a visibility strategy to identify and manage political and reputational risks with program activities.

Selection criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in delivering successful project and public relations activities in the Philippines, preferably for DFAT funded programs.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality publications and media products.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing media and communications in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to gender equality, disability inclusion, social inclusion, and safeguarding on programs is essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to plan, draft, edit, and proof-read information to publication standards.
