Position Summary:
We are seeking a talented and motivated mid-level coastal engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will leverage your technical skills and experience to contribute to the design, analysis, and implementation of coastal engineering projects. You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers to deliver innovative solutions that address complex coastal challenges.
Essential Job Functions:

Conduct coastal engineering analyses and design using state-of-the-art tools and methodologies.
Develop and implement coastal protection and restoration projects, including shoreline stabilization, dredging, beach nourishment, and habitat enhancement.
Perform field investigations and data collection to support project development and implementation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success and client satisfaction.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for clients and stakeholders.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements in coastal engineering.
Assist in the development of construction plans, technical specifications, and engineering calculations
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in California (or the ability to gain licensure in those states within six months of hire).
5+ years of experience in coastal engineering with a strong foundation in coastal and flood risk management principles.
Strong proficiency in using AutoCAD Civil 3D design software to prepare complex coastal engineering designs.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal communication and client-facing skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Coastal Engineering or related field.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel for site visits and construction oversight as needed. Travel is estimated to be up to 10% yearly (occasional overnight travel).
Ability to stand or walk for long periods during inspections, including the ability to walk on uneven terrain.
Ability to kneel, crouch, or stoop when inspecting sites.
Willingness and ability to work outdoors in a range of weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, cold) for extended periods of time.
Ability to sit at a workstation and use a computer for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours/day). Additional hours may be required based on project needs.
Manual dexterity to use a computer mouse, keyboard, and other tools.
Visual acuity to read and interpret detailed drawings and technical documents including topographic and site surveys, construction document plan sets, and reports.
Ability to communicate effectively in-person and via electronic means.
Additional Information:
This position is based in our Irvine, CA office on a hybrid schedule, typically in the office 3-4 days/week.
This position is scheduled for full-time work (40 hours/week) with a typical schedule of 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday. Additional hours may be required based on project needs.
The salary range for this position is approximately $95,000 to $135,000 depending on education, qualifications, experience and work location.
