Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response Intern, National Security

Position Summary:
The Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response (CHMR) Intern will provide support on a variety of initiatives within the National Security (NS) practice area within the geographic area of the Indo-Pacific. This internship will require a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule and is presently remote. This is a paid position, and we anticipate the candidate starting soonest after presenting an offer. The selected candidate must be based from the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan (DMV) area throughout the duration of the internship. This role can come in person at our Courthouse Office, but otherwise can be remote out of their residence in the DMV.
Responsibilities:
- Provide research support to region-specific analytics, tools, and guidance on topics pertaining to CHMR.
- Support senior staff with producing innovative business development products for CHMR.
- Create external marketing products for GID.
- Support coordination of events such as conferences, panels, and meetings on relevant topics.
- Support the development of an MSI framework for GID in conflict-affected settings.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a master's degree required, preferably in national security, military operations, reducing civilian harm in conflict, rules of engagement, peacebuilding, or a similar area.
- Minimum one year of experience required. Minimum one year of relevant experience preferred.
- Experience and/or knowledge of the Indo-Pacific area of operation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and OneNote required.
- Professional demeanor and communication skills, especially via email and by phone.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize within a multi-tasking environment.
- Strong attention to detail, writing, presentation, event coordinating, and marketing skills preferred.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, required. Second language skills are preferred.

Pay Transparency Statement:
The compensation for our internship program is $17.50 per hour.
