The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a Civil Engineer (Mid-level) to join our team. As a mid-level you will play a vital role in the design and implementation of various infrastructure projects.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative solutions that improve the efficiency and safety of our clients' projects. You will be involved in all stages of the project life cycle, from initial concept and design to construction and final inspection. As a Civil Engineer, you should have a strong understanding of engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, contractors, and other team members.

Your Role:
- Conduct site investigations and surveys to gather data for engineering projects.
- Prepare detailed engineering plans, designs, and cost estimates for construction projects.
- Review and analyze technical drawings, specifications, and other documentation.
- Monitor progress and ensure that projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
- Perform quality control inspections to ensure compliance with engineering standards and specifications.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other team members.
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in an Engineering related major.
- 5-9 years’ experience in engineering design for energy-related projects and floodplain analysis.
- Professional Engineering License or passing of the FE/EIT is preferred.
- Experience and expertise focused on floodplain management, flood mitigation design, 1D and 2D floodplain analysis, and working knowledge of industry standard Hydrologic and Hydraulic Analysis (H&HA) software such as HEC-RAS, GeoHECHMS, Flo2D, HEC-HMS, ArcMap and WMS.
- Experience with renewable energy projects, preferably solar in utility-scale and distribution generation projects.
- Experience with the erosion and sediment control plan design and approval process for renewable projects through the county and state regulatory processes.
- Understanding of stormwater quality and quantity management in design, construction and post construction settings, hydrology, fluvial processes and applicable rules and regulations.
- Experience with planning, designing, construction and maintenance of stormwater infrastructure and BMPs, low impact development projects, and green infrastructure projects.
- Working knowledge of civil and environmental engineering principles including grading, site layout, wetland impacts, entrances, traffic, utilities, etc.
- Working knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (e.g. HEC-RAS, HydroCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project) and other engineering software tool skills.
- Demonstrated capabilities in understanding and applying environmental regulations to real-world situations.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well independently and at remote job sites.
- Ability to work on several tasks at any given time.
- Ability to work well with a team.
- Ability to mentor junior staff.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
