Position Summary:
The Civil Engineer Intern supports the Water team by assisting with engineering design, analysis, and documentation for water infrastructure projects. This role is intended for a current civil engineering student seeking practical experience aligned with academic coursework and professional development goals.
Essential Job Functions:
The following duties are considered essential to the role. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
• Assist in the design and permitting of water-related projects.
• Perform conceptual and detailed design calculations and analyses.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering reports and supporting documentation.
• Support the development of construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Ensure adherence to standard engineering practices and proper documentation.
• Coordinate and interface with other engineering disciplines.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute assigned tasks in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Third- or fourth-year student enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Civil Engineering.
• Familiarity with relevant engineering codes and industry standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior internship or academic project experience related to water or civil infrastructure.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing computer-based work.
• Ability to perform light physical activity associated with office or occasional field tasks.
• Ability to use standard office and engineering software and equipment.
Work Environment / Environmental Factors:
• Primarily an office-based environment with potential for occasional field visits.
• Standard office noise levels with intermittent exposure to outdoor conditions during site visits.
• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Additional Information:
• Employment Type: Internship (hourly).
• Work Location: Denver, Colorado.
Compensation Range:
• $24–$26 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
