Chief of Party for East Africa Conserving the Western Indian Ocean

Qualifications: ​

* Minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant discipline is required.​

* Minimum of 7 years in a director-level role leading and managing complex development programs and multi-disciplinary teams, preferably as a Chief of Party for a USAID-funded project. 
* 10+ years of project experience working in one or more technical disciplines, ideally with a focus in East Africa: marine/coastal biodiversity conservation, marine protected area establishment/management, sustainable fisheries management and promotion, distant water fleets, marine science, municipal management, food security, public policy and governance, conservation finance, including carbon finance, sustainable livelihoods, or other relevant technical areas. 
* Proven track record managing multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural development programs and teams, engaging effectively with stakeholders, fostering collaborative learning and adaptive management, and understanding and addressing the needs of the most vulnerable. 
* Strong familiarity with building capacity and commitment for marine biodiversity conservation.​

* Strong network of government, NGO and civil society, donor and private sector through focus geography of may include Kenya, Somalia, the Seychelles, Comoros, South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Mauritius, and Madagascar. 
* Excellent communication skills in English. Foreign language ability a plus.
