We are currently seeking a Chemist part-time, 24-hr per week position with potential to become permanent for our Parsippany, NJ office. The successful candidate should be self-motivated providing chemistry-related technical support for a wide range of projects including field investigations and remediation programs. This is not a laboratory position but a role that will work to strengthen our consulting practice.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Plan preparation (specifically sampling plans, quality assurance/quality control plans), including assisting with submittal requirements.
  • Collection and management of samples from a variety of media (soil, groundwater, surface water etc.).
  • Coordination with laboratory and data validation subcontractors.
  • Management of analytical laboratory data, including tabulation of results and submission to regulatory agencies.
  • Data review, including development of data quality indicators (DQIs) and eQAPPs, use of electronic data validation programs, and assessment of usability.
  • Working efficiently on project teams.
  • Tracking/meeting contractual and regulatory deadlines.
  • Must be able to obtain medical clearance for field work at hazardous waste sites including lifting up to 40 lbs. and working for extended periods of time in the field, under hot or cold, humid, and wet conditions.
  • Must have a valid driver license and be able to pass the company DMV check to be a Tetra Tech-qualified driver of corporate/rental vehicles.
  • Ability to pass background check (as required for project work).
  • Willingness for occasional overnight travel.

Requirements:

  • BS in chemistry or another environmental science-related field.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office suite; knowledge and use of other database systems plus.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects of various size and scope.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a project team.
  • Good communication and field documentation skills.
