We currently have an opening for a CAD Designer to join our Design team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for producing CAD drawings involving structural, mechanical (heavy moveable structures), electrical, and civil/site elements on locks, dams, levees, guide walls, bridges, and other infrastructure. The CAD Designer will be an integral part of a team that is nationally known for their expertise in inland navigation, flood control, and coastal protection structures. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years in structural drafting and 5+ years of experience utilizing BIM software, i.e., Revit or Bentley’s OpenBuildings Designer (formerly known as AECOsim Building Designer) Connect edition. The preferred location for this position is Bellevue, WA.

Your Role:

  • Proactively engage with project managers and design engineers to ensure timely project completion within allocated budgets, which may include occasional overtime work.
  • Coordinate with Tetra Tech CAD managers to implement Project CAD Standards.
  • Setup Project drawings to conform to client standards.
  • Effectively produce CAD drawings using Bentley Connect Series and AutoDesk Software.
  • Analyze complex sketches, notes and other input to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with Engineers and other CADD Team members.
  • Utilize CADD best practices and QA/QC procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency of their work. 

Your Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Drafting/Design preferred.
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience and working knowledge of structural/ electrical/ mechanical engineering principles, practices, and methods.
  • 5-15 years of strong design experience and competence with BIM software; Revit required; OpenBuildings Designer desired or willingness to learn.
  • Experience using U.S. Army Corps of Engineers CAD Standards is a plus.
  • Proven knowledge of plan set development and ability to conform to various jurisdictional standards is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, committed to project schedules and deadlines, able to work within a team environment and independently, and self-motivated.
  • Solid work ethic with attention to detail, a care for the handling of projects, and a desire to improve and grow their knowledge.

 

The hourly wage for this position is approximately $33 to $43/hour depending on education, qualifications, experience and work location.
