Business Development Consultant
Job Overview:
Tetra Tech International Development Limited is looking for a Business Development Consultant to join our Business Development team in London. We are seeking entrepreneurial candidates with proposal management experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills and a problem-solving mind-set.
The Business Development Manager works closely with Tetra Tech’s technical teams to develop innovative and effective proposals for projects that will deliver results and value for money to our clients.
Reporting to the Head of Proposal Development, this role is central to the success of our business development cycle, steering proposal teams from identification of opportunities through to the submission of winning proposals.
Working with others in the Business Development team, the successful applicant will drive new ways to produce high-quality work, a strategic proposal or a briefing note to our in-country teams.
The role is based in London, with travel to project and client locations as required.
Main Duties:
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Successful delivery of business development activities from opportunity identification to proposal submission.
- Support Tetra Tech’s practices’ pipeline and opportunity assessment, qualification and submission process.
- Management of the overall pursuit process and production of proposals, capability statements, and expressions of interest; ensuring documents are produced within deadlines, client specifications and to professional standards.
- Capture timely opportunity intelligence, assess opportunities against the business’ strategic objectives, and follow up prospects with colleagues and partners.
- Working together with the technical practice areas and the costing specialist to identify and respond to commercial requirements in line with commercial strategy.
- Identification, relationship building and contractual management of partners and consultants.
- Develop communications content to celebrate project achievements and share learning and knowledge with the relevant audiences.
- Maintaining and strengthening business development systems and procedures, including integrating and disseminating feedback and lessons learnt.
- Attending market engagement and other industry events to promote Tetra Tech and keep abreast of market opportunities and challenges.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders including pursuit teams, in-country teams and technical specialists across the Tetra Tech operating units.
Aptitude and skills:
The successful applicant will have:
- An entrepreneurial nature and ability to thrive in a team environment.
- A good understanding of the full bid development cycle and requirements.
- Strong proposal/project/sales pipeline management skills. An accreditation in proposal development best practice (Shipley or equivalent) will be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to create compelling and concise narratives for a range of audiences using Word and PowerPoint.
- An interest in addressing the social, political, environmental and economic challenges around the world, complemented by an interest in sales and bidding.
- Prior experience working in the international development sector, especially with UKAid entities, is an advantage.
- Strong organisational skills and an ability to prioritise and meet deadlines in a complex, demand-driven environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building and negotiation skills.
- You must have a proven employment track record that can demonstrate relevant experience.

Qualifications:
Degree level educated, or equivalent, in a relevant subject desirable
