Billing Specialist (Richland, WA)
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to join our Finance team in Richland, Washington. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting or finance professional to support project billing and financial operations in a fast-paced consulting environment.
The successful candidate will prepare accurate client invoices, maintain project budgets, support project managers and the financial management team, and ensure compliance with client contract requirements. This position offers opportunities to develop financial systems knowledge while working closely with project teams supporting a wide variety of government and commercial clients.

Essential Job Functions:
Billing & Financial Administration
- Prepare accurate and timely client invoices using Tetra Tech's Oracle-based financial system.
- Ensure invoices comply with client contract requirements and billing specifications.
- Review billing information for completeness and accuracy before submission.
- Maintain project billing records and supporting documentation.
- Monitor project budgets and assist with budget tracking throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support project collections by ensuring timely invoice processing.
Project Financial Support
- Work closely with Project Managers and the Financial Management team to resolve billing questions.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and project summaries as requested.
- Assist with invoice corrections, adjustments, and billing reconciliations.
- Support project financial reporting and data management activities.
- Maintain accurate project financial records and documentation.
Customer Service & Collaboration
- Communicate professionally with internal project teams and external clients regarding billing inquiries.
- Build effective working relationships with project managers, finance staff, and administrative personnel.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to billing processes and financial reporting.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1–2 years of billing, accounting, finance, or related administrative experience.
- Previous billing experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with individuals at all organizational levels.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with U.S. Government contract invoicing.
- Experience using Oracle or other enterprise financial systems.
- Experience working in a consulting, engineering, or professional services environment.
- Knowledge of project accounting principles.

- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting established deadlines.

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $23.00-$28.00 hourly
