Bid Director, Strategic Pursuits
Tetra Tech’s Corporate Business Development Support (BDS) team partners with global operations to win high-quality, technically differentiated, competitive proposals for government and commercial clients. Corporate BDS collaborates closely with geographically dispersed teams worldwide, supporting both remotely and on-site. Our professionals in capture planning and proposal management gain broad experience across diverse market sectors.
We’re seeking an experienced Bid Director to facilitate the full lifecycle of our most strategic pursuits across the United Kingdom. Based in the United Kingdom, this role’s mission is to support multidisciplinary teams tasked with increasing Tetra Tech’s market share, with direct reporting to the Vice President of Corporate BDS. The selected candidate will integrate with UK-based teams and receive support from both local and US-based capture and bid professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model and promote best practices in capture planning and strategy development
- Facilitate strategy charettes and SWOT analyses that drive clear, actionable paths to increase win potential
- Foster collaboration across business units, helping teams integrate enterprise-wide capabilities, expertise, and innovations into winning proposals
- Develop and implement value-added win themes that resonate with clients and differentiate Tetra Tech
- Guide teams through capture and proposal stages, including kick-off and status meetings with cross-functional contributors
- Lead development of bid management plans, compliance matrices, and creative, compliant outlines
- Conduct and facilitate colour-team reviews to provide constructive feedback and elevate proposal quality
- Review and refine proposals to enhance persuasion and achieve top evaluation ratings
- Interview technical experts to identify and convey value-added benefits
- Work with graphic designers to create clear, impactful visuals and presentations
- Deliver high-quality, compliant, polished client deliverables
- Share lessons learned and support continuous improvement across Tetra Tech’s business development and bid practices
Qualifications/Skills Required

- Extensive experience in bid management/coordination
- Significant experience with UK government tenders, especially within the Ministry of Defence, and/or with UK local governments or utilities
- Demonstrated capabilities across the full pursuit lifecycle (capture, prequalification, tender/bid, interviews)
- Strong “soft skills” including diplomacy, interpersonal effectiveness, and collaborative leadership—serving as an objective partner committed to Tetra Tech’s broader success
- Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to adapt to fast-paced, deadline-driven environments with geographically dispersed teams
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with attention to detail
- Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams), Adobe Acrobat X Pro, and/or Adobe InDesign
Additional Requirements: This hybrid role requires in-person time in local/regional offices, with the flexibility to work remotely. Remote work requires reliable high-speed internet. To support our UK clients within a global organization, candidates must also be flexible and willing to adjust schedules to meet client needs.
