In Vanuatu, Tetra Tech manages the Vanuatu Australia Education Support Program (VAESP) on behalf of the Australian Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Through VAESP, Australia Awards Vanuatu (AAV) provides scholarship opportunities that enable ni-Vanuatu to undertake tertiary study in Australia and the Pacific.

AAV supports scholarship recipients throughout their scholarship journey, from promotion and selection through to study, return and alumni engagement. The program also works with alumni to strengthen professional networks, support ongoing learning and development, and build enduring links between Vanuatu and Australia.


The opportunity

As VAESP approaches completion in December 2026, AAV continues to deliver scholarship and alumni activities while ensuring that key program knowledge, systems and operational processes are well documented and maintained.

The Australia Awards Vanuatu Support Officer will provide administrative and operational support to the AAV team, working closely with the AAV Manager and AAV Officer to support day-to-day program activities and effective program implementation through to completion.

This position would suit a recent graduate or early-career professional who is interested in developing practical experience in program administration, education, international development or stakeholder engagement.


Key responsibilities

  • Learn Australia Awards scholarship processes, policies and operational procedures.
  • Support promotional events, outreach activities and provincial visits.
  • Respond to scholarship enquiries and communicate professionally with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate logistics and administration for scholarship delivery, awardee and alumni activities, workshops, meetings and events.
  • Maintain accurate scholarship, awardee and alumni records, databases and program systems, including OASIS.
  • Support program transition and knowledge management by documenting processes, organising files and archiving information.


About You

You are an organised, proactive and motivated individual who is interested in supporting education, scholarship or international development programs. You are willing to learn, have strong attention to detail and can communicate professionally with a diverse range of stakeholders.

You will bring:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, education, communications, human resources, information systems, international development or a related field is desirable.
  • Relevant experience in administration, customer service, office or program support through employment, internships, volunteering or student leadership is desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bislama, with the ability to engage professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing tasks, meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Interest in scholarship, education, professional development or international development, with a willingness to learn new systems and maintain accurate, confidential records.

You will also demonstrate a positive and proactive approach, strong interpersonal skills, reliability, flexibility and a commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team.
