The Opportunity:

The Role:
Bangladesh’s national and humanitarian warehousing systems face recurrent stress from climate shocks, disasters, and protracted refugee displacement. Warehousing capacity gaps across government, humanitarian, and private-sector actors undermine food safety, quality assurance, and emergency readiness. WFP Bangladesh is launching a Humanitarian Response Supply Chains’ Optimization Initiative to strengthen warehousing systems across three tiers:
- Government ministries (MoDMR & MoFood)
- Small holder farmers using WFP-supported Aggregation Centres / Agri-Business Service Centres (ACs/ABSCs)
- Humanitarian and private-sector actors
The Warehouse Capacity Development Specialist will provide hands-on technical support including operational assessments, system design, content development, training, and mentoring to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-assured warehousing practices for food and non-food commodities, where applicable, nationwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct capacity assessments of selected government (MoDMR, DG Food), aggregation centres, and humanitarian actors’ warehouses.
- Develop and contextualize training modules (including translation into Bangla, climate-resilient and gender-inclusive practices).
- Establish institutional SOP package for warehouse management, pest control & quality monitoring.
- Design practical, context-appropriate warehouse systems, including basic inventory tracking, loss monitoring, and quality-control tools suitable for government warehouses, aggregation centres, and community-level storage.
- Support WFP and government counterparts in sequencing and prioritizing warehouse improvements and in coordinating implementation across relevant stakeholders within existing operational constraints.
- Deliver Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions for government, smallholder farmers in Acs / ABSCs, cooperating partners, and private-sector actors using tools and demonstrations appropriate to the respective targeted audiences.
Selection Criteria
- Advanced degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field. An appropriate mix of vocational training and professional experience may be an acceptable alternative.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse management, food-quality assurance, or humanitarian logistics (experience with UN/NGOs an asset).

- Proven expertise in capacity development, training design, and delivery.
- Experience designing and implementing warehouse systems or SOPs in low-resource or field-based contexts (e.g. community storage, decentralized depots) is a strong asset.
