Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in urban planning (or closely related field).

  • 4 -6 years of professional planning experience.

  • Demonstrated experience leading entitlement projects and navigating multiple municipal/county review processes.

  • Strong writing, public speaking, and negotiation skills.

  • Experience with GIS analysis, exhibit preparation, and review of technical reports.

  • Comfort working directly with clients, municipal staff, and stakeholders.

  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in urban planning (or closely related field).

  • AICP certification or active pursuit of AICP.

  • Consulting experience (proposal work, fee/scope development, billing/time tracking).

  • Experience mentoring junior staff and managing small project teams.

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD basics, and advanced GIS.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to occasionally travel locally (approx. <5% of travel required).

  • Office-based tasks will include prolonged periods of time sitting or standing at a desk and using a computer and other office equipment. Light document handling, occasional meeting attendance, rate light lifting (plans, boxes, boards).

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

  • Primarily professional office environment with prolonged computer and screen use. This will include regular interaction with team members, clients, and public agency staff; occasional attendance at municipal offices, public meetings, or project sites.

  • Limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise levels during meetings or site visits.

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday work scheduled (40 hours). Occasionally extended hours may be required based on project and/or client needs.

  • Position is based out of the local Longmont, CO office. Potential of a hybrid work schedule after the first six months of employment to be discussed with the direct supervisor. This potential arrangement is subject to review and may change at the company’s discretion.

Target salary range:  $85,000 to $105,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.
