Associate Director – Geo-Environment
We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious consultant to lead our Geo-Environment & Mining team in the northwest, based in our Manchester Office.
The successful candidate will become a member of this 100 strong Business Unit delivering focused solutions for our growing key client base, with emphasis on technical excellence, client care and effective project management. You will be working alongside other land quality, environmental due diligence, ground investigation, groundwater and geo-technical specialists to deliver holistic solutions to clients’ needs in these areas. Additionally, You will be collaborating with geo-environmental teams in other offices and with other specialists in the planning, environment and engineering teams.
This role is to develop our engineering geology and land quality services across the NW of England and to lead and grow the existing Manchester Geo-Environment team currently comprising 4 staff.
We have a resilient long term client base in several sectors. We are keen to expand upon our water, nuclear and renewables services in the northwest and nationwide, so experience in these sectors is relevant.

In the role you will:
· Drive business development activity to secure new clients and develop and nurture existing client relationships.
· Provide dynamic leadership to the Manchester team. You will support their development through coaching and mentoring. You will grow the team by generating new and repeat business.
· Provide high quality advice and innovative solutions to clients.
· Lead the negotiations of commercial fee proposals.
· Work closely with other disciplines particularly Engineering and Planning in Manchester and other offices across the NW (Liverpool / Cockermouth) to develop and implement key client engagement plans and to deliver work.
· Pro-actively promote Tetra Tech through networking, professional bodies, trade associations etc.
· Oversee projects being delivered on time, within budget and in line with appropriate quality standards and to carry out project finance control.
· Achieve revenue and profitability targets in line with objectives.
- Contribute to the business strategy of the Geo-Environment Team
You will have:
- A relevant degree e.g. geology, engineering geology.
- Chartered membership of appropriate professional body (preferred).
- Extensive experience of geo-environmental, engineering geology and brownfield work particularly in the northwest.
- Detailed knowledge of market conditions, opportunities, competition and client base in the northwest.
- Demonstrable business development success.
- Ideally experience in the renewables and/or nuclear sectors.
- Experience of team leadership and development of professional staff;
- Strong influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrable revenue and profitability growth with your existing client base.
- Robust project management capability and a record of successfully delivering large projects.
- Demonstrable technical innovation experience
