Assistant Project Controller
Purpose & Scope of the Role
This Assistant Project Controller role sits within a dynamic Project and Cost Management team, supporting high-profile Government and Corporate clients. You will gain hands-on experience across core project controls disciplines—planning, risk, cost engineering, and PMO—while building capability in data analytics and digital delivery.
Designed as a structured entry point into Digital Project Controls, the role provides a strong foundation in project delivery, with progression towards automated, data-led and insight-driven approaches. You will work closely with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to support delivery across sectors including infrastructure, defence, energy, water, and international development.
Your Impact in this position
You will enhance project performance and visibility by applying data, analytics, and digital tools. From developing dashboards to supporting governance and reporting, your work will enable better decision-making, improved data quality, and more efficient delivery. You will contribute to the evolution of project controls into a more digital, integrated and forward-looking capability.
Core Capabilities
· Data Analytics & Visualisation: Build and enhance dashboards (e.g. Power BI) to deliver clear, actionable insights. Analyse and transform data to support informed decision-making
· Project Controls Fundamentals: Support planning, scheduling, risk and cost activities. Track progress against milestones and contribute to performance reporting
· Digital & Data Integration: Integrate data from multiple systems into unified reporting solutions. Develop structured data models to improve consistency and usability
· Governance & PMO Support: Assist with reporting cycles, governance processes and performance monitoring. Ensure data quality and alignment with project standards
· Continuous Improvement & Automation: Support automation of reporting and workflows. Contribute to digital innovation and capability development across the team
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Relevant degree or early career experience in engineering, project management, data analytics or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as Power BI and Excel is beneficial, alongside an interest in data-driven delivery and digital transformation within project environments.
Working Environment
This role offers flexible and hybrid working, with an expectation of 2–3 days per week in the office depending on project needs. You will collaborate with teams across multiple locations, with opportunities to work on diverse and international projects.
