Assistant Biologist (P6 – Entry-Level) Stuart, FL

Tetra Tech is adding a motivated Assistant Biologist to support environmental and biological projects, including wildlife surveys, habitat assessments, and ecological data collection. This is an entry-level role designed for individuals looking to build hands-on experience in environmental consulting.
The selected candidate will assist with field investigations, data collection, and basic technical documentation, while developing skills in environmental monitoring, restoration, and compliance projects.

Essential Job Functions:
Field Support & Data Collection
- Assist with biological field surveys, including wildlife, marine, and habitat assessments
- Collect and record ecological field data following established protocols and guidance
- Support species identification efforts under direction of senior staff
- Assist with field logistics, including use of GPS units, UTVs, and field equipment
- Perform fieldwork in coastal and remote environments under varying weather conditions
Technical & Project Support
- Assist in preparation of field notes, reports, and supporting documentation
- Organize and enter data for project teams, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Support data QA/QC and basic analysis under supervision
- Assist with environmental monitoring and habitat restoration activities
Team Support & Development
- Work closely with project teams and follow direction from biologists and project managers
- Support public outreach or education efforts, as needed
- Follow all health and safety procedures and project requirements
- Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and grow within environmental consulting
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
- Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
- Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
- Additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Marine Science, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field (or expected completion)
- 0–3 years of experience (internships, coursework, and field programs acceptable)
- Exposure to field data collection and ecological surveys
- Ability to learn and identify regional Florida species and habitats
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently with guidance and as part of a team
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with marine or coastal fieldwork
- SCUBA certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with GPS and field data collection tools
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Experience operating ATVs, UTVs, or small field equipment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform fieldwork in outdoor environments, including coastal and marine settings
- Ability to walk long distances, stand for extended periods, and work in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry field equipment (up to approximately 25–30 pounds)
Work Environment/Environmental Factors:
- Combination of field, laboratory, and office environments
- Exposure to outdoor conditions including heat, humidity, water, and uneven terrain
- Travel may be required for field assignments
- Work may involve interaction with wildlife, marine environments, and natural habitats

Compensation:
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $25.00 – $28.00 hourly
