Job Description
LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking an experienced Air Traffic Control Specialist to support the Traffic Flow Management Enhancement Program (TFMEP). This position provides operational and analytical support to the TFMEP Center, with a focus on National Airspace System (NAS) operations, traffic flow management, and strategic deconfliction.
The Air Traffic Control Specialist will apply air traffic operations experience to support real-time TFMEP activities, evaluate system performance, document operational outcomes, and provide analysis and recommendations that improve the effectiveness of TFMEP processes and decision-making.

Responsibilities
- Provide operational expertise in support of TFMEP strategic deconfliction and NAS traffic flow management activities.
- Support real-time implementation and assessment of TFMEP operational strategies.
- Analyze NAS conditions, operational performance, traffic flow initiatives, and TFMEP metrics to support operational decision-making.
- Record and evaluate operational data associated with TFMEP events and activities.
- Conduct post-event reviews comparing planned strategic deconfliction activities with actual NAS performance and outcomes.
- Respond to pre-operational and post-operational requests for operational information and analysis.
- Identify operational trends, constraints, and potential improvements to TFMEP procedures and processes.
- Assist in developing repeatable and executable operational processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Document findings, lessons learned, and recommendations to improve TFMEP effectiveness.
- Coordinate with TFMEP operational personnel, FAA management, air traffic stakeholders, and other program personnel.
- Participate in operational briefings, reviews, and other activities supporting TFMEP execution.
- Support a 24/7 operational environment as required.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience required. Additional directly relevant air traffic control experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements, as permitted by the contract.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in Air Traffic Control, Traffic Flow Management, or National Airspace System operations.
- Strong understanding of FAA air traffic operations, procedures, terminology, and operational decision-making.
- Experience evaluating NAS operational conditions, traffic management initiatives, or system performance.
- Knowledge of strategic traffic flow management and deconfliction concepts.
- Ability to analyze operational events and identify trends, constraints, performance gaps, and lessons learned.
- Ability to work effectively in a real-time, time-sensitive operational environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate operational information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with FAA personnel, operational teams, program management, and other stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in operational documentation and reporting.
- Proficiency with standard office, reporting, and data-analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as an FAA Air Traffic Control Specialist, Certified Professional Controller (CPC), Traffic Management Coordinator (TMC), or in a comparable military or contract ATC role.
- Experience in an Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC), Air Traffic Control System Command Center (ATCSCC), TRACON, or other NAS operational environment.
- Experience with FAA Traffic Flow Management programs, tools, procedures, or systems.
- Experience supporting operational analysis, post-event reviews, or performance assessment within the NAS.
Work Requirements:
- Work location: FAA Headquarters and/or the DOT TFMEP Control Center (SCC).
- Work Hours: Onsite 5 days per week. 24/7 Operations support may be required.
- Typical shift windows include:
- Morning: 0600–1400 or 0700–1500
- Evening: 1400–2200 or 1500–2300
- Overnight: 2200–0600
- Typical shift windows include:
- Overnight coverage may be adjusted based on program needs.
- Travel: 0%
- Physical requirements:
- Work is performed in an operations room/control center environment.
- Extended Computer Use: Regular and prolonged periods of working at a computer terminal.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds may be required during installations or maintenance.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the office environment to access computer hardware, networking equipment, and server rooms.
- Dexterity: Manual dexterity and visual acuity to operate computer equipment, troubleshoot issues, and perform tasks requiring precision.
- Sitting/Standing: Both prolonged sitting and occasional standing may be required for troubleshooting and attending to system issues.
- Background check: Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

Compensation (Pay Bands)
Salary at LST is determined by a wide array of factors, such as (but not limited to) education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, location, and clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
The projected compensation range for this position is provided within the posting and is based on full-time, 40 hour/week status. Part-time staff receive compensation at an hourly rate. The estimated minimum and maximum displayed represents the broadest range for this position (inclusive of high geographic and high clearance requirements) and is just one component of LSTs total compensation package for employees. ** In compliance with local laws, LS Technologies presents this reasonable compensation range as a guideline for roles in California, Colorado, New York, or Washington D.C."
