Administrative Assistant
The Opportunity:
Tetra Tech is adding an Administrative Assistant to our Hampton Roads team based in Virginia Beach, VA.
Your Role:
The Administrative Assistant will support a wide variety of general office activities, document preparation, and administrative coordination to help keep the office running smoothly. This role serves as a central point of contact for office support, providing information, answering questions, troubleshooting issues, and responding to requests from coworkers and visitors. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office environment.
The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal guidance, follow directions and written instructions, and collaborate effectively with coworkers and project staff.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Provide front desk coverage by greeting and directing visitors and delivery personnel, answering and forwarding calls via Teams as needed, and managing incoming and outgoing mail and shipments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional office environment, including the kitchen and café area, and contact building management regarding maintenance issues.
• Prepare and format basic office documents, correspondence, and reports.
• Create and maintain tracking sheets, spreadsheets, and other simple office records.
• Update and edit slide decks and other presentation materials as needed.
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
• Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge and awareness.
• Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
• Additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven administrative or receptionist experience required.
• Strong time management and multitasking skills required.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to learn new software and systems required.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat required.
• Experience creating tracking sheets, updating slide decks, and supporting general office tasks preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team required.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills required.
This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Language & Communication Skills:
The successful candidate must be fluent in written and spoken English, as adequate for interaction with company staff by phone, internet, and face-to-face. The candidate must be able to converse interactively with project managers and technical staff so as to accept, understand, and follow up with written and verbal instructions. The qualified candidate must be able to edit documents to correct spelling errors and grammar errors.
