Project Summary:
Tetra Tech is implementing the recently awarded, five-year USAID Power Africa Empower West Africa (EWA) Activity. Building on a decade of Power Africa success, EWA aims to close the energy poverty gap in the region by increasing supply of and access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable electricity. Through the power of partnership, Power Africa bridges the gap between the private sector, development partners, and the U.S. Government to spur increased investment in Africa’s energy sector, reduce barriers to investment, and deliver reliable electricity access throughout sub-Saharan Africa. By 2029, EWA aims to establish six million new electricity connections; reach financial close for 2,500 megawatts of new generation capacity; construct 1,500 kilometers of new power lines; and achieve sales of 40,000 productive use of energy (PUE) devices.
Position Summary:
Tetra Tech is recruiting a Partnerships Specialist who will support the Partnerships Coordinator to liaise with the Power Africa Partnerships Office; provide technical assistance to public and private sector partners to enhance their capacity to develop and implement energy projects in West Africa; manage relationships between the project and partners; and develop concept notes and memorandums of understanding for proposed technical assistance that EWA can deliver to potential partners to meet project needs. This position is full-time, and hiring is contingent upon USAID approval. Interested candidates must be eligible to work in Ghana. Regional travel may be required.
Position Responsibilities:
Support to the Partnerships Coordinator to:
- Implement the Partnerships Engagement Plan
- Liaise with Power Africa Partnerships Office and Power Africa partners to increase their awareness of EWA’s services, role and benefits of engagement to identify, establish, and maintain strategic partnerships with public and private sector entities.
- Liaise with EWA senior technical leads to identify potential services to partners.
- Identify opportunities to integrate Power Africa Partnerships Office needs into technical EWA activities.
- Develop technical assistance concept notes, drafts memorandum of understanding and partnership agreements as well as letters of commitment with potential partners.
- Conduct baseline analysis of existing partner agreements in EWA countries and identify high-impact opportunities for partnership prioritizing activities that support EWA meet its targets.
- Develop and maintain a database of technical assistance deliver to partners.
- Contribute to entries to the Power Africa Tracking Tool (PATT) and the Power Africa Information System (PAIS) and assist the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist in reporting results.
- Collect information from technical leads on support provided to Power Africa partners to share with the Power Africa Coordinator’s Office and the Power Africa Partnerships Office for periodic reporting.
- Draft and review EWA deliverables such as weekly reports, quarterly reports, annual reports, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning reporting.
- Work with the communications team to prepare outreach and thought leadership materials such as presentations, success stories, fact sheets, case studies, and digital content.
- Perform other duties to help accomplish activity objectives as assigned by the Partnerships Coordinator and Chief of Party
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, communications, engineering, or any other relevant field and five years of experience
- Previous experience in Sub-Saharan Africa and familiarity with power sector issues
- Experience engaging with private sector, government and donor agencies in West Africa.
- Experience developing and maintaining relationship management database
- Familiarity with implementing communication, networking, and partnership strategies in West Africa
- Familiarity with Power Africa’s network, partnership models, and operating modalities preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel
- Fluency in English
Valued Qualifications:
- Fluency in French
