Your Impact:

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and planning of sustainable mechanical systems for high-performance buildings and facilities. You will act as Engineer of Record, oversee MEP technical communication with clients, and ensure design quality and compliance with codes and client expectations. Your leadership will drive team growth, project success, and technical excellence, making a lasting impact on the built environment.

Your Role:

• Lead and manage the mechanical discipline team through all project phases, from early concept to construction completion.
• Design and plan sustainable mechanical systems for diverse building types.
• Serve as the Engineer of Record, ensuring high-quality engineering design and compliance with codes and client expectations.
• Provide technical leadership and client communication on MEP topics.
• Oversee quality control, budgeting, scheduling, and staff management for assigned projects.
• Support mentorship and leadership development within the mechanical engineering team.
• Utilize advanced HVAC design principles to optimize building performance and sustainability.
• Work closely with architects, contractors, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of experience in mechanical engineering and HVAC system design.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
• Experience working in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
• Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD, Trane Trace, IES, and MS Office for complex calculations and designs.
• Strong knowledge of Building and Mechanical Codes and Standards.
• LEED AP BD+C accreditation and WELL Certification preferred.

Work Environment & Location:

This position offers a hybrid-remote work environment, requiring candidates to be located in Portland, OR, or Seattle, WA, and eligible to work in the U.S.. On-site project meetings may be required to facilitate collaboration and project execution.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000 (depending on experience)
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the compensation scale for this role. Actual salaries will be determined based on location, experience, responsibilities, and qualifications. This salary range is just one component of Tetra Tech’s total compensation package, which includes benefits, professional development opportunities, and additional incentives.
