Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Structural Technician, you'll support the delivery of structural engineering projects by producing accurate technical drawings and models that help bring designs to life. Working closely with engineers, you'll apply industry standards, BIM processes and company procedures to deliver high-quality outputs across a varied project portfolio.
Your Impact in this Position
Your technical expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to construction. By producing precise drawings, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and maintaining high quality standards, you'll help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately and on time while continuously developing your own technical capability.
Core Capabilities
Technical Drawing & Modelling: Produce accurate general arrangement and detailed structural drawings using AutoCAD and Revit. Interpret engineering briefs and create structural details from design information.
BIM & Digital Engineering: Work within BIM environments, supporting project coordination and clash detection using Navisworks. Follow CAD standards, document control procedures and digital workflows.
Structural Knowledge: Apply sound knowledge of common structural materials, construction methods and detailing. Contribute to reinforced concrete detailing where applicable.
Project Delivery: Take ownership of allocated work, ensuring accuracy, quality and timely delivery. Coordinate effectively with engineers and wider project teams.
Collaboration & Professionalism: Build positive working relationships through clear communication and teamwork. Demonstrate initiative, attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
HND (or equivalent) in Engineering or a Construction-related discipline, with experience as a Structural Technician in an engineering environment. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, BIM coordination, document control processes and structural detailing is essential. Experience with CADS RC is advantageous.
Working Environment
Based in our Belfast office, you'll work as part of a collaborative structural engineering team delivering projects across the UK and internationally. This role offers a hybrid working model, with 3 days per week in the office (subject to business and project requirements), providing flexibility while maintaining strong team collaboration.
