Join Tetra Tech’s high-performing Cost Consultancy team and play a pivotal role in delivering complex, high-value projects across the UK, with a strong focus on sustainability and carbon reduction.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
As a Quantity Surveyor within our Bristol-based team, you will contribute to the successful delivery of major residential, defence, and government property projects. Working within a multi-disciplinary environment, you will provide expert cost consultancy across the full project lifecycle—from early feasibility through to completion. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and clients, using advanced tools such as CostX to deliver accurate, strategic cost advice while supporting innovative, low-carbon design solutions.
Your Impact in this position
In this role, you will influence key project decisions by providing clear, data-led cost guidance and ensuring financial efficiency at every stage. You will build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, becoming a trusted advisor within integrated project teams. Your contribution will help shape project outcomes, drive value engineering initiatives, and ensure successful procurement and cost management across a diverse portfolio of developments.
Core Capabilities
Cost Planning & Estimating: Develop detailed cost plans for complex projects using industry-leading tools. Analyse design options and advise on cost implications
Stakeholder Collaboration: Build effective relationships with clients, contractors, and design teams. Communicate technical insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Commercial Management: Deliver full construction-stage cost management services. Monitor and report on cost movements, ensuring transparency and control
Strategic Thinking & Value Engineering: Contribute to value engineering and risk management workshops. Provide forward-thinking, strategic cost advice to optimise project outcomes
Project & Team Leadership: Support and coordinate internal and external project teams. Adapt to evolving project priorities while maintaining high delivery standards
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
You will bring proven experience in quantity surveying within a technical environment, ideally with or working towards RICS membership. A strong track record in delivering high-quality cost consultancy services, combined with experience managing project teams, is essential. You will be a confident communicator with a strategic mindset, capable of influencing stakeholders and driving best practice. Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain it) is required.
Working Environment
This role is based in Bristol with opportunities to collaborate across regional offices. We offer a flexible, hybrid working model, typically with a mix of office and remote working depending on project needs. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team environment, with access to diverse projects and ongoing professional development.
